Alternate History is about considering a past event and questioning what if a major event had gone differently and how that would have affected the entire world today. It’s is a sub-genre to literary fiction, science fiction, and historical fiction; which is also termed as allohistory, uchronie , if-worlds, counterfactuals, what-if stories, parallel worlds etc. It is considered to be mythical genre, and most of us are interested in history. We sometimes debate about our own ideas and think what if things would have gone differently.
Alternate History is an interesting topic which allows you to change the complete world with your thoughts. Some of the Novels, Short Stories, Comic Books, Movies, Television do have this particular genre. The most common themes observed in the history are “What if the Nazis won World War II?” and “What if the Confederacy won the Civil War?”, but alternate Napoleons, Roman Empires, and Kennedys are also popular subjects.
The fiction consisting alternate history usually confuse people with secret or hidden history, which helps us understand that the past is not completely revealed. For instance, in Joe Poyer’s Vengeance 10, a moon rocket was built and launched by the Nazis. However, it’s strange that no one ever found out about the mysterious body until the 21st century. In secret history the present is static, in other words the today’s newspaper remain the same. Where as in the allohistorical world, it perhaps would not.
